Okay, so Kevin Rudd has now taken it upon himself to apologise to the "Stolen Generation"for all Australians.
Does that mean he is also apologising to the non indigenous single mothers that also had their children taken during that time because they were unwed? It wasn't just the indigenous people that suffered during that time.
He also mentioned that now he wants us to live in equality.
Great! BRING ON EQUALITY! That means no more special benefits just because your indigenous. That means same pay rates, same social security benefits, same waiting lists for child care, same education, same of everything that non indigenous people get!
I have never understood how schools get paid extra just because the child is indigenous, or employers get incentive rates and why my child had to wait 7 months on a waiting list to get into child care when they is an aboriginal child care centre with places available, that my son wasn't allowed to go to because he's white. Isn't that equivalent to racism and discrimination too? Just as I can't apply for work at any aboriginal places here because I'm white.
I hear over and over and over again how we are supposedly racist and descriminate against indigenous people, the way I see it is they put themselves above everyone else and believe they are entitled to more than we are.
MAJORITY of the non indigenous community could trace back their heritage to being slaves or convicts brought over from England, where they were whipped and beaten too. Where's our apology for that?
